VOUW
Justus Bruns is the co-founder of VOUW, a design and technology studio exploring how technology can help bring people closer together rather than push them further apart. Founded in 2017 with Mingus Vogel, VOUW was born from a simple observation: while technology promised greater connection, many people feel increasingly isolated, disconnected, and alone.
Operating at the intersection of design, technology, art, and public space, VOUW creates interactive installations that encourage human interaction in unexpected ways. Their work includes Bloomlight, a flower-like installation that turns towards passers-by, Chairwave, a seating concept designed to bring strangers together, and PoemBooth, which transforms portraits into personalised poems within seconds. Each project is designed to spark curiosity, conversation, and moments of connection between people who might otherwise never interact.
VOUW’s work has been exhibited around the world, including in Singapore, Dubai, Athens, Milan, Sydney, Kaohsiung, and Aarhus. Their installation Bloomlight S received the German Design Award 2026 and their work has been featured by Fast Company, Designboom, and TrendHunter.
At The Lobby, Justus brings a perspective that feels increasingly relevant in a world shaped by algorithms, efficiency, and digital optimisation. While many technology companies focus on scale, automation, and engagement metrics, VOUW asks a different question: what if technology was designed to create more meaningful human interactions?
His work sits in a fascinating space between commercial design, public art, and social innovation. Through VOUW, Justus explores how thoughtfully designed experiences can influence behaviour, strengthen communities, and create moments of connection in an increasingly fragmented world. For founders, designers, and leaders alike, his work offers a compelling lens on how businesses and creators can build products that not only capture attention, but contribute positively to the way people relate to one another.
