Johannes Torpe Studios

The founder of Johannes Torpe Studios, Danish designer Johannes Torpe, is an unconventional, creative soul in every conceivable way.

Johannes Torpe’s career catapulted when he designed the exclusive Copenhagen nightclub NASA in 1997. He has since been the creative director for Bang & Olufsen; he has designed shops and restaurants and developed concepts worldwide. He has helped worldwide brands such as Nike and, most recently, the Canadian bicycle manufacturer Argon 18 with creative fittings and solutions. He has just decorated the award-winning Restaurant LEVI in Copenhagen and helped create the Danish trains of the future for DSB in collaboration with French Alstrom.

With the award-winning Red Mountain Resort project in Iceland, Johannes Torpe has redefined the hospitality field.

Johannes Torpe has designed furniture for, among others, the Danish brand HAY and American brand Haworth. He has recently developed a furniture collection for the Italian design brand Moroso.

Johannes Torpe’s thought-provoking solutions have made a difference for many brands across interior design, branding, industrial design, and architecture.

As a self-taught architect, industrial designer, lighting designer, graphic artist, professional drummer and music producer, Johannes Torpe has a unique profile in the design industry and likes to refer to himself as a design activist.

Johannes Torpe believes that we bring out the best in ourselves by pursuing things that move us. He has worked across continents, disciplines and industries, and the diversity of Johannes’ portfolio demonstrates a fearless approach to design. For him, creativity has never been limited to one sector or one discipline.
